The design brief connected with this resource is for students from Year Two to interview a grand-parent, family member or friend, specifically talking with them regarding how they communicated between family and friends before computers.  The student will then continue to educate the family member about the options available today for communication.

The allocated Content Descriptor from the Australian Curriculum: Technology (ACARA, 2014) comes from the Digital Technologies, Processes and Production Skills sections and reads; explore how people safely use common information systems to meet information, communication and recreation needs, ACTDIP005.  With the design brief in mind, this coupled well with ACTDIK001 Content Description from the Knowledge and Understanding portion reading; recognise and explore digital systems for a purpose (ACARA, 2014). The Elaboration chosen for this is sharing ideas about the ways information systems are being used by families and friends in everyday life, for example, comparing current digital play with play equipment of more than 20 years ago.
